Mameworld.info front page background image - why?
#297263 - 10/09/12 09:38 AM

Why is the background-image property being used to set the background color instead of background-color in the CSS for the body element?

Same question goes for .spacer class.

If you mean the front page of .info (the page with ads), it's made by KC so I don't know. If you mean the forum software, it works and I absolutely could not care less about something being "proper code". I only care about "working".

There's nothing invalid about doing so and it causes no issues AFAIK

I also use win2k pro... on a 0.5Ghz single-cpu celeron pc.

Also, I agree with your sentiments... if it works leave it alone.

I used to work with a guy that would go through code and make it proper, sometimes changing it from working to not working
in the process. If he would have stopped doing that after being told to multiple times, I would probably still work with him.

My concern is with the fact that it's inefficient - serving 2.4kB for a plain, non-gradient background color.

Also, disabling images at the front page will render the links beside the main content to become unreadable, a usability issue.

But whatever, it doesn't matter.

I have to feed the birds, farewell.
