A quick Linux question...
#296672 - 09/27/12 09:29 PM

Are all the different "flavors" of Linux the same? In other words if I have MAME for ubuntu will it also run on fedora? Thanks

Binaries are difficult to make travel well across distributions, which is why each of the major distros has their own MAME packager. Of course, if you build your own, you don't need to care about that.

This isn't like Ubuntu. Better off using Ubuntu or something a lot easier to deal with.

I loves me my Fedora, but I've used it in a working environment for years, so I'm pretty accustomed to its ways. I've also never used Ubuntu, so maybe I'm just blind to the wonders it provides.

Ubuntu has being going downhill since Gutsy Gibbon. The latest UI stuff is ridiculous. You're better off with Fedora KDE spin.

Preaching to the choir here. Fedora + RPMFusion = awesome.

I going to try this Fedora version. Fedora 17 got screen mess up and got some errors after installing patches from it updates.
