Nothing is free....What will that much energy removed from from the environment do to it? (I really don't know what percentage of wind energy would be removed...would it be significant?)

i guess think of wind as electricity, and the generators as resistance. i suppose with enough resistance, we could cause changes in weather patterns.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that a large enough wind farm could disrupt the wind enough to cause very localized climate changes. Given that wind farms are often situated in rural areas where there are regular farms, I could see it being problematic. I highly doubt we could possibly build and place enough turbines to have a measurable impact on large scale weather patterns, though.

It would probably have way less of an impact than a few skyscrapers grouped together. Sometimes I think we forget just how much energy we are dealing with in a typical weather system.
