Hard Drivin wheel saturation problem
#293209 - 08/03/12 02:21 PM

Hi

Still having problems with this game (race drivin as well)...

Ive properly calibrated the wheel (either an xbox 360 wireless racing wheel or a Ms Speedwheel)(i recommend it for mame btw) in the service mode (did it many times, i know it's okay).
When I go into the "control input" in service mode, I can see that everything is working properly, and that it reads my axis completely (i mean, it tells me i'm 100% left -for instance- when I'm indeed 100% left on my speedwheel).

Problem is, once in game, it only uses say, 25% of the axis range, so that it's very very sensitive (as the -in game- car turns 100% when my wheel is 25%)
Saturation is set to maximum in Mame settings so it can't be that (although it's a saturation thing it seems).

Any help welcome (it's the same with other wheels btw).

p.s. other racing games with wheel works perfectly, using the whole wheel range (out run, virtua racing etc)

The steering wheel on an original Hard Drivin' machine isn't a typical 270-degree arcade steering wheel. It's geared and has a huge range of motion, something like 1080 degrees, like a real car. So when you map it one-to-one to a regular 270-degree wheel controller, you're going to get extremely sensitive steering.

Thanks for answering.

I'm aware of that, but as I said :
"once in game, it only uses say, 25% of the axis range, so that it's very very sensitive (as the -in game- car turns 100% when my wheel is 25%)
Saturation is set to maximum in Mame settings so it can't be that (although it's a saturation thing it seems)."

Guess its time to update this post again, will do that every few years hahaha.
Still cannot play that game for the same reason, on mame 0.171.
I said 25% but actually its more like 10% of my wheel range is used in game, crazy.
I properly recalibrated everything (following the guidelines), all good there, but once in game its unplayable...
Thanks

Have you tried reducing the analog sensitivity?
