MicroXP .98 and Mame

So I recently received a JPAC and MVS2Jamma converter so I can easily convert my Neo Geo 4 slot mvs cab into a mame cabinet and back again without much hassle. I used scrap system parts and installed catalyst, realtek, microxp, directx, etc. before putting in my emulators and roms.
When I tried running roms on Mame32(currently the only emulator) the screen turns black and then returns to the desktop. Alternatively, if I try mamep.exe the application screen just turns black briefly and goes back to the desktop. I cleared my nvram folder, cfg, and whatever else I didn't need. I cannot figure this one out. I also tried on the arcade monitor and a regular crt to see if maybe there was an issue with the signal. Also switching between DVI and VGA doesn't make a difference either. Please help?

What the hell is MicroXP .98? Is that an illegal Windows release? I wouldn't expect help here.

MicroXP appears to be an illegal hack of Windows, we can't support MAME on hacked operating systems. I suspect your system will run fine if you install something legit (Win7 or Linux).

Why do people still insist on running XP in some form or another? There is nothing wrong with Win 7,or even Vista for that matter.Hell,I had Win 7 ultimate running on a p4 3.2!

I run XP 64-bit edition in my cabinet because Windows 7 doesn't play nice with 15KHz arcade monitors and has serious issues with interlaced resolutions.

I run XP 64-bit in my cab because my mobo tops out at 2GB and I had no problems finding drivers for everything
