My list of ultimate cabs:
Street Fighter 2 (whichever CPS1 version was the best)
Suzuka 8 Hours
Suzuka 8 Hours 2
Ghostbusters arcade
Star Wars Trilogy
Afterburner Climax cockpit (the one with the motion seating, whatever that is)
Keyboardmania (bonus if a version exists with "western" songs rather than obscure Japanese/Korean songs I have never heard of although I dont think it does)
Time Crisis

Are pinballs allowed under the criteria? If so then add these:
F-14 Tomcat
AC/DC
Star Trek Next Gen
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Addams Family

Or rather the DU found (sourced) it and then Guru paid for it so he could dump and own it, and then never dumped it. Not something I would brag about.

Guru and I paid for it, I can add it when I feel like it, and I know who to credit. Just like the good old days of MAME.

Yeah I understand how copy/pasting a credits list could take all the fun out of everything. Control-C plus the damn P. If it was just Control-C that would be one thing but you add that P and it's a right pain in the asshole. I hate it. Damn that P for ruining mame.

I have no idea about this stuff any more. I'm old and senile. Is there an undumped list I can peruse? He's got a lot of weird stuff and might be unloaded a bunch of old/rare stuff in a bulk sale soon, prime time to attack.

It is a very tough decision with that limitation. I would ideally need ~200 titles limitation...Here's the 25 I settled for in alphabetical order:

Berzerk
Bump'n'Jump
Centipede
Donkey Kong
Elevator Action
Galaga
Gauntlet II
Ghosts'n Goblins
Gorf
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Journey
Joust
Jungle Hunt
Moon Patrol
Ms. Pac-Man
Pac-Land
Pac-Man
Pandora's Palace
Phoenix
Popeye
Punch-Out!!
Q*bert
Star Wars
Tempest
Wizard of Wor

The next 25 would consist of:

Altered Beast
Amidar
Arkanoid
Asteroids
Defender
Dig Dug
Do Run Run
Double Dragon
Gyruss
Mr. Do!
Mr. Do's Castle
My Hero
OutRun
Rally-X
Renegade
Robotron 2084
Route 16
Satan's Hollow
Spy Hunter
Street Fighter II - Championship Edition
Tapper
Time Pilot
Tutankham
Up'n'Down
Vs. Super Mario Bros.

I'll stop there - but easily can list another 125-150 titles I would want.

That's rough. Here's one possible list in those criteria, but it would probably be different every time I tried to assemble one

Space Invaders
Ms. Pac-Man
Star Wars
Tempest
BurgerTime
Defender
Space Harrier
OutRun
Arkanoid II
Contra
Gradius
Gradius III
Sexy Parodius
R-Type
Raiden II
Daytona USA (big screen)
Sega Super GT (big screen)
Gunbird
Guwange
Shienryu
NFL Blitz
NBA Jam
Discs of Tron
The Ninjawarriors
Camel Try

Sorry to make you feel bad, wasn't intentional...

Hey, would this be that friend of yours I met once or twice who's in NJ-area?

Anyhow, this list isn't officially endorsed by MAMEDEV or The Dumping Union AFAIK but is the most frequently updated (daily/weekly):

1 each, in no particular order

Pacman
Ms. Pacman
Pacman Jr.
Galaga
Galaxian
Donkey Kong
Rolling Thunder
Rampage
Tapper
Off the Wall (Sente, not Atari)
Roadblasters (sit-down)
Hard Drivin' (sit-down)
Scramble
Crazy Climber
Asteroids
Final Fight
Commando
Metal Slug
Q*Bert
Pong
Atari Video Pinball
Space Invaders
TMNT
Joust
Moon Patrol

There are probably a few I'd swap out if the mood struck me differently, but I wouldn't be bored in an arcade with all of those titles.

Not at all. I enjoy coin-op in its physical and emulated form, I'm just more knowledgeable of the physical side and everyone here seems to be cool with that so it's all good!

> Hey, would this be that friend of yours I met once or twice who's in NJ-area?

Yeah, he's mister low profile but is reasonably receptive to the cause. I just don't think he'll let boards & roms leave his premises under most circumstances.

I noticed somes of the Exidy titles are TTL-based and therefore shouldn't really be on the list.

I'm not counting those out anymore - on the emulation front - Couriersud added a better simulation of "Pong" to MAME very recently, and Adam Bousley of the DICE project is suddenly around again. And gregf is still collecting manuals, schematics, boards, PCB scans, ROM dumps from discrete logic games, etc. I'm calling it now: a new wave of TTL-based game boards being simulated within the next five-ten years, so we're gonna need all the information we can collect, including physical PCBs.

Considering the lists already posted I would guess that most users (not all) are somewhat younger than me, far too many fighting games!

From the games I actually played BITD my ideal room would consist of (in no particular order):

Pac-Land
FireFox
Star Wars
Gauntlet
Ghosts'n Goblins
Star Force
Scramble
Galaxy Wars
OutRun
OutRun 2 SP
Sega Rally Championship
Pole Position
Gyruss
Commando
Super Sprint
Ridge Racer
Super Hang-On
Turbo
Track & Field
Space Invaders

A saloon? Bleep that. Bleep that in the... not the blank. No. Another hole. The stab wound in it's chest, right where the heart would be (if it had a heart).

*sigh* okay. Anyway, here it goes.

Crossed Swords
Toki
Rastan
Gladiator
Pac-Man

shooters (I'll include sh'mups too)

After Burner (II)
After Burner Climax
Galaxy Force II
Galaga
Centipede
Truxton
Gradius II
Gradius III
Life Force

sports

Windjammers

fighting

Street Fighter II, Championship Edition
Street Fighter III, 3rd Strike

Marvel Super Heroes
Samurai Shodown
Samurai Shodown II
Samurai Shodown IV
Marvel vs Capcom
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Killer Instinct
Killer Instinct 2
Mortal Kombat 3

Manx TT Super Bike
Super Hang-On
Sega Rally Championship

puzzle (also not given by OP)

Tetris
(a game based on QIX, but I can't recall the name of it, not one of the Gal Panic games)
KLAX

This list probably doesn't meet your requirements but it's my arcade (I don't know where you're getting this "saloon" poop) and it could probably be better, but w/e.

eta: I now read some of the other replies, and definitely some good games I forgot to mention (Final Fight, Discs of Tron, -just to name a couple). But to add them would just be copying. I've probably got too many listed already.

When I started to list "reflexion" games I still like to play, I didn't think that they were that many ! So I had to "build" 2 saloons to put all of them ...

"Reflexion" saloon 1 :

. Atomic Point (Philko, 1990)
. Flash Point (Sega, 1989)
. Karian Cross (Deniam, 1996)

. Twin Qix (Taito, 1995)

After listing all the games (see also previous messages if you haven't done so), I realised that there were still "a few" that I couldn't put in another saloon (because they were all full), but I still wanted to "save" them ... So here is another saloon I could have named "video games 3" if they were in my top priority ...

"Miscellaneous" saloon :

. Arkanoid II - Revenge of DOH (Taito, 1987)

Now that you've read everything, don't miss the "bonus" saloons ! Try to find which games will go in them ...

Is this so you could have 1 game always stay mint? Because nobody would ever play it under any circumstances. Maybe you could use it as punishment. If I beat you in x game your punishment is you have to play Street Fighter 1.

The version with the 2 analog buttons had a great success in some arcade rooms in France ... And it was easier to "smash" these 2 buttons instead of using the 6 buttons layout ... Unfortunately, this isn't possible in MAME

2x Linked Space Lords
Dragon's Lair
Strider
Xybots
Raiden
Pac Man
Ms. Pac Man
Donkey Kong
Galaga
Defender
Stargate
Samurai Shodown
SF II Champion (not that I care, but my friends would demand it)
Missile Command
Asteroids Deluxe
Rampage!
Blockout
Tetris
Rampart
Rolling Thunder
Super Hang-On (sit down/motion control)
Out Run
Star Wars (sit down)
Empire Strikes Back

Mr. Do
Don Pachi
Funhouse (Pinball)
Terminator 2 (Pinball)
Gilligan's Island (Pinball)

Here is the map of my Arcade Castle with all the rooms I mentionned in my previous messages ... Since the dimensions are rather big (2727 x 1703), you'd better download and "visit" it ...

interestingly, there is no access to the adult game rooms... do you have to sneak into it from the cocktail room?

Yep, that's it (since the bar is in the cocktail room, consumers can be granted an access to the adults rooms) ! Nice find !

I've already lived that dream, for the most part, having owned my own arcade. I was missing four games that would have made it perfect- Reactor, Zookeeper, Tron and Discs of Tron. Other than those omissions, I feel pretty good about having done it, and have long moved on.

Games in my arcade (not all at once; some were swapped, parted, or sold during this time):

Vids:
Tempest
Battlezone
Space Duel
Breakout
Anti-Aircraft
Steeplechase
Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man (both upright and cabaret at different times)
Pac-Man Unleashed! (took the available hack at the time, burned the roms, and built a JAMMA cab using a DECO cab with an adaptor to run the Pac board)
Asteroids
Omega Race (caberet)
Turbo
Frogger
Rally X
Defender
Joust
Scramble
Bump N Jump
Rampage
Spy Hunter
Dark Stalkers
Frenzy
Street Fighter 2
Lethal Enforcers (1 and 2)
Police Trainer
SF Rush (2 linked cabs)
Hyperdrive
Area 51: Site 4
Ikari 3
Street Smart (utter rubbish, in a converted Tron cabinet)
Klax
Atari Tetris
Attax (I think that's what it was called)
Gladiator (Taito)
Time Soldiers
Double Dragon
Virtual Racing
VS Mario Golf
(and some I'm sure I've forgotten)

(Also owned Monaco GP cockpit, Tank, and Circus, but never operated them outside of my house)

Pins:
Centaur
Twilight Zone
Funhouse
Star Trek (Bally; had two of these)
Lost World
Rapid Fire
Pinbot
Time Machine
Party Zone
X-Files
Terminator 2
Pinball Magic
Eight Ball Deluxe (couldn't keep it running for more than a day, no matter what I tried. Some harness issue I never fixed)
(maybe more... can't remember)

These days, I'm long out of the business, and have exactly zero machines. Someday I'll grab an old classic for the parlor, but music is my passion these days. Atari and Midway have been replaced by Gibson and Marshall

Ha, that takes up slightly less space, but empties your wallet somewhat faster.

Man, you aren't kidding. It's the same principle as buying machines, though- once you have one, you always want more more more. They call it G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) in player circles...

Do you also get Gradius and SNK Boss Syndromes, too?

#292539 - 07/24/12 03:09 PM

Hi,

Im looking for a mame but wasnt sure where to ask this. Its an old game probably around the late 80's/early 90's. Its about a boy who throws bubbles and right at the end he turns into a dragon to face the last "boss".

I need to find out what the game is called. Please help if you can.

Thanks
