Tutankhamun

I had no idea that exhibit was in Seattle. I know what I'll be doing on a Saturday in the near future.

Now that the Muslim Brotherhood rules Egypt this is probably the last best chance to see real artifacts without going to Egypt and risking your head.

Hopefully they don't start destroying the stuff like they did the giant Buddhas.

I remember seeing that in Chicago when I was a kid back in the late 70's or early 80's

From the page:

"With more than twice the number of artifacts than the original Tut exhibit that toured in the 1970s, many of these objects have never toured in the United States before this exhibit."

Was also here in Chicago back in 2006-2007. Not saying it's the exact thing but pretty close.
But you won't get to see the best thing like I did.

Tut’s golden mask became an iconic image of the 1970s. These days, by Egyptian law, the golden mask can no longer leave Egypt.

It's especially iconic for many of us who created bitmaps with DeluxePaint II. :-)

When I wrote that post and made the destroy stuff comment, I had no idea!

Not a frequent visitor to either of those sites just saw the two stories today on Drudge.

I'm biting my tongue hard and binding my fingers to prevent me from mentioning how "R.D." In this case human history destroyed just because some wackos can't handle that coexisting with their own beliefs. Which leads me to wonder how insecure they truly are with their own poor excuse for "faith".

I'm just looking at that from the perspective of someone doing their part to preserve a part of history over here. To me it's not any different than a Frogger cab getting destroyed in Seinfeld or an Astro Invader cab smashed in a Tom Petty video. It's only later when more rational people understand what's been lost.

It's just barbaric. To others it's just another routine being done for the lulz.

I forget. When is "Draw Mohammed Day"? ;-)
