If this was your cabinet how would you configure it?

About 2 years ago I went and picked up a old Defender cabinet off Craigslist, stripped it, sanded it, painted it, and made it look pretty nice. I put in a new cheap ($600) E-Machine, an Nvidia 8800gt 1gb,Custom fitted the X Arcade controller, and a 26' Monitor and we have a pretty nice MAME cabinet.

HOWEVER...
Xarcade suggested Mame+ so I went that route since it was quicker to get up and running and the kids was wanting to finally play the thing, but along the way, it refuses to see certain Roms, only 1000 or so of my current ROMs actually work and the Front end is pretty ugly.
I'm going to completely redo the MAME setup and I'm looking for advice from the community that has already successfully done this (the right way).
About 6 months I tried just using MAME instead of M+ and it refused to see the Xarcade.
What I would like: - Run the latest Mame so I can easily add new roms - Integrates well with Xarcade - Would love to be able to run my Sega, Nintendo, Daphne, Atari, jaguar, Sega CD all from one GUI. I'm thinking "Maximus Arcade" might work for me, thoughts?
That's a good start. Any help from you guys would be awesome.
If this was your cabinet how would you configure it? Thanks

That's not possible. Xarcade appears as a keyboard, so MAME should see it by default.

Try the attached XArcade.cfg file. I'm unsure if official MAME can make use of it because I don't own an XArcade, but I'm told mameuifx uses it really well.
