Interview with the developer of "Looping"
#287268 - 05/22/12 12:01 AM

An interview with the original author of Video Games GmbH's "Looping" arcade game is available on MAMEDEV.org, thanks to Corrado Tomaselli and Antonio Gerli. Head on over to the English translation of the interview:

Or the original Italian language version.

Looping is available as a ROM download for free, non-commercial use here.

The link at the end of the interview doesn't work.

A long time ago on unMAMEd, they listed (I don't remember word-for-word), that the schematics were 7 pages long and had one of the strangest protections schemes for any arcade game at that time.

BTW, good article as well.

Yeah, his webpage disappeared awhile back. We figured we'd leave the url there as a placeholder in hopes that it may come up again. That's why it isn't an actual link, but rather a written-out URL. You can, after all, plug it into the internet archive and get a little information.

It might just be best to remove it altogether, but that loses information. Quite the quandary.

I added a note describing as much, and changed a bunch of the occurrences of "Texas" and/or "Texas Instruments" to its well-known abbreviation, TI.

I know the English isn't 100% perfect, but if anyone has any additional suggestions, I'll modify the interview accordingly.

Thanks!

* And actually, if you see another typo or piece of misinformation on the mamedev website, please feel free to message me. I can very likely fix that up as well.
