Twilight Zone For Pinball Arcade

The team at Farsight have set up a Kickstarter for the rights to reproduce Twilight Zone in Pinball Arcade. It's going to cost $55k to pay off Hollywood.
Agreed, it absurd, and yes, there are plenty of great Pinball titles that don't require licenses. Maybe those pins don't need to be emulated right away if at all.
However for those like me that want to help out, there is a way.

This might be a good way to gather funds for Mame related projects like decapping and art scanning.

Keep in mind that the devs generally don't respond positively to attempts to turn MAME into a job rather than a hobby.

Besides, while no one can be 100% sure, you can never shake the feeling that mame/pinmame is under the hood to generate the backboard emulation. As amazing as the 3D, zooming and physics might be, the emulation comes from somewhere...
My opinion alone here.

No, I think enough commercial emulators have turned out to be misuses of MAME that it's good to be skeptical. (Especially with the PinMAME guys licensing out code they didn't have the rights to).

Whoever they licensed to.
I don't know the company but they did at least did a deal with someone who put 42" panels in a pinball style cabinet.

David Foley, formerly of UltraCade/Global VR, currently in prison. So there's mostly a happy ending from our perspective ;-)

Is Dave actually in jail? Last I checked court documents showed his sentencing hearing was postponed until August of 2012.

I'd be more excited if it was a project to re-manufacture the actual machines rather than a goofy iPhone app. As if today's kids are gonna understand the excitement of pinball through a handheld device doing emulation of something that is purely physical and kinetic. Pinball is still out there. It's three blocks away at the pizza shop in my town. Put your money in the coin slot and play the real thing. Talking about preservation (is this really preservation?) and the extinction of pinball is like giving a eulogy for your father while he's eating dinner right across from you.

I have to disagree. Pinball's even more dead than arcade machines. Parts are getting ridiculously hard to come by, and a lot of repairable machines are getting junked for lack of parts and repair techs.
I remember when I could find at least 15 machines in town, but I think it's down to maybe TWO at most with both in relatively bad shape.
