I didn't know they had Instagram in 1968.

But seriously, there is so much awesome in those pics it boggles the mind. I'd love to just step into the photo and work my way down that line of pins.

I dig the '59 Olds 98 in that first shot, too.

I like how one of the signs read
"No prizes of any kind or nature offered for high scores"

Very beautiful pictures

You knew that pinball was outlawed here in the states for a time? A very good movie about pinball is called "special when lit a pinball documentary".

Yeah I think it was even illegal to own a pinball machine in New York for some years, but I don't remember the specifics on that right now.

Very good documentary. I believe in the documentary pinball was illegal in 1938 and eventually made legal in 1976.

That was in NYC proper, I think most places lifted the ban sooner, and some never banned it at all. Nonetheless, for most of its existence, pinball was associated with gambling and shadiness.

They certainly were more pure than when Upton Sinclair wrote "The Jungle". Nowadays even the occasional human finger, arm or entire body will be much more free of those contaminants in hot dogs today thanks to HAACP. ;-)

Y'know that once scene when a criminal gets lowered into a meat grinder in "The Exterminator"? Something like that. Makes you want to think twice about what goes into authentic Italian sausage. Then again, Mafia justice sure is tasty! LOL!

Elegant? All the machines literally look the same. The whole scene is plagued with yellow and red. Blech.

I can almost smell a place like that.

Wood polish, electric, old paint; all mixed together with the 5/10 food/snack counter. Where's that wayback machine at?

Later...

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!
