This reminds me how frustrating is for some people to wait 5 or more screens to play a game (system intro, publisher, game engine, media license logos, developer studio, copyright notice, game intro, game title, etc.). You see that kind of complains once in a while.

Well, it IS a bit annoying to have to wait 45 seconds to actually get to the main menu through a bunch of fade-in, fade-out screens, the nVidia paid-for advertisement (sometimes with animation..) and so forth.

Yeah, I agree with that. I can't say the same about games, but about movies for me those screens are like placing a videotape in the rewinder or loading an Amstrad CPC program tape (if I ever had one or knew about them before). I'll simply let the machine to do its thing while I do something else before enjoying the product.

Just for you, they fixed it. The new ones, 20 seconds worth, come up "once you hit the main movie/play button." So you let the previews play while you grab drinks/snacks, sit down and hit play, THEN they "educate" you before they start the movie.

I won't deny my patience limit is far long. I rarely watch TV or see movies, so for someone who does this very often it must be of course frustrating. In fact I stopped watching TV because of the intrusive advertisements, so I should really be understanding what are you all talking about.

Heck, I'm using and Ad blocker to surf the web. Maybe I'm not that patient at all.

What the point is of more warnings, anyway? Does anyone *not* know that copyright infringement is illegal? Has that been successfully used as a defense? I can't see a pirate suddenly reading the warning one day and piddling themselves with terror at the prospect of being prosecuted for their crimes.

The worst is when they do that unskippable crap on kids movies. That should be fookin illegal. Almost nothing is worse than trying to start a movie that the kiddos want to watch, and they're screaming and crying and you can't skip past the latest "Air Bud" monstrosity preview and start the damned movie already.

You've convinced me, I get it now. It's us paying folks that need to keep the thieving riff-raff in line. As part of my moral and civic obligation to do so, I've come up with a brilliant idea to curb shoplifting as well. Say we take those door sensors that beep when someone shoplifts, and make them a more noticeable deterrent. I mean, what criminal is going to pay attention to the warning if the thing doesn't go off until they steal? Here is the plan. Reverse their operation. Every PAYING customer gets beeped at, as a clear and present warning to shoplifters that they shouldn't be stealing. It's the only way to be sure the message gets across.

//Might get an honorary FBI badge for that genius idea.

Well, it it were written in Japanese, it wouldn't serve as much of a warning (er, "notice") outside Japan.

The two-disc "Fight Club" DVD is fantastic! It was one of the first DVD's that I bought in 2001 (the other was "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" at the time of purchase).

I really like David Fincher's deluxe DVD releases. Now if "The Game" would get the deluxe treatment I'll be a very happy dolly, though the unredacted director commentary for "Alien3" would work as well. :-)

As for the crap before the movie on the DVD's I buy it just amazes me how out of touch bureaucrats are. One of those lesser lifeforms can visit even this board and see WHY their nonsense doesn't work and just encourages more people to rip. Some people will even distribute those rips.

Then again, these are the very same bureaucrats who refuse to LEARN how the 'net operates.

And the majority of the electorate those votes towards these intellectual midgets? What does THAT say about the electorate?

Dammit, I'm beginning to break out in hives right now! I'm allergic to THE STUPIDS!!! Ahh! Get it off meeeeeeee! Need calamine and diphenhydramine!!!!
