Honestly, I'd probably rather get a device that I could run more than just one system off.
Compatibility is somewhat sketchy, by the review. I can get just about the same level of performance off a PSP-based Genesis emulator, though the buttons won't be QUITE right, and it'll do NES, some SNES, etc just fine.

I don't think so. This appears to be an 'emulation based' FPGA or something similar and not original components. The one review mentioned a few games that did not work for whatever reason. I think they hand picked the 20 best ones to add to the hand held initially, leaving the others as "at your own risk" via SD card. Still, for the novelty of it, it might be worth a try.

I posted before I read the reviews and now I'm wondering if the emulation on this device is based on some old PicoDrive
code because I remember older versions could not run the same games.

This is old. I've seen this from 2 years ago maybe. All it is, is a portable mega drive emulator with an SD slot.
