Last details:
-compiled up to u6 just fine
-messed around with some things-no compile this time
-waited until u7 came out
-patched it & no good
-re-started with my previously d/l 145s, diffs 1-7, & deleted obj -made it even worse
-re-d/l all source, mingw & diff files again and started over in a new folder & drive
-tried just 145stable and I still get this:
Any ideas? First time I've had real problems...

Try this after extracting mame0145s and overwrite all.
set path=H:\mingw\mingw64-w64\bin
patch -p0 -E < 0145u1.diff
patch -p0 -E < 0145u2.diff
patch -p0 -E < 0145u3.diff
patch -p0 -E < 0145u4.diff
patch -p0 -E < 0145u5.diff
patch -p0 -E < 0145u6.diff
patch -p0 -E < 0145u7.diff
make all -j5
