Can somebody help me get Mame full screen?

I built my cabinet a few years back and had to put it in storage for 2 years. I now have it out of storage and am trying to make it work again, but I've forgotten everything I used to know. I'm using Mame32 at the moment, but I've tried a couple of others and still had the same issue. The Full Screen box is checked. I've messed around with the other boxes.
I think the issue is related to the resolution of the tv. It's an old 640 x 480 RCA. For some reason instead of having a 640 x 480 option in Windows all I get is 800 x 600. The games are showing basically in the middle third of the screen.
Any advice is very much appreciated.

Use latest official MAME from mamedev.org 0.145 version.
Next in mame.ini set window 0 if you want fullscreen or after launching MAME press TAB key to access video options.
Easy guide can be looked at here http://www.mameworld.info/easyemu/

OP might want to see if the old MAME32/MAMEUI will run full screen before getting the latest release and finding 3529-or-so games not loading due to updated/changed/redumped/moved ROMs.
That said, the options should be pretty much the same even with older builds like 0.125 (I still have this one aside for the cheat interface; ironically it is a MAMEUI build as well). But, if it's a really old build such as pre-107 video update it probably won't be worth holding on to at all.

Yeah, like H said, see if it runs full screen at all. Then look into the display of your TV. The image is *almost definitely* being scaled, so are you getting fullscreen with the desktop? Actually, if you don't have a PC monitor to bring over to your cab, do this one first.
