It blows me away how these places just keep on turning up. You would think they would have all been raided or rotted away by now.

I'd love to get a line on something like this. I'll bet if you can negotiate a good price, cherry pick one or two machines to keep, and sell the rest to collectors, you could turn a tidy little profit, in addition to rescuing irreplaceable games from the dump.

Do you think these oldtimers believed the games would regain value down the road or something? 80s games were going for $50-100 at auctions back in the 90s when nobody wanted them, and now they've kinda leveled off at that 300-400 range (fully working, nice condition). Hardly worth the thousands you'd have spent on storage over all those years, I'd say.

I don't know, they probably didn't envision the internet making the market so open. If it wasn't for the internet they would be like antiques before the internet. Really hard to find and seller sets whatever price he wants, no idea really how many are left out there etc.

Sure, but if you own the storage place free and clear it's a pretty minimal expense. And given the value has tripled since the 90s it's a fair bet it'll be up again in 10 or 20 years. There is after all a finite number of machines and many of the parts are no longer made.

I know the last auction I went to, about 5 years ago, the cheapest was a non working asteroids game for about $300, the ones I wanted went for $800 which was Discs of Tron or a screwed up Missile Command for $550, which I didn't test but it need a trackball at very least.

great point smitty, totally forgot about that. you could get $1200 for a ms.pac that operators were dumping for $75. it was unreal. but those days are long gone thanks to google.com et al.

Probably a good idea to keep watch here. Some interesting boards may turn up from the haul.

With the economy being as it is for Nevada. I am sure there are a few more finds with warehouse operators needing to move their stock.

Before the real estate bubble burst, there was an operator behind the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas (name escapes me Palisades??) that had those classics wall to wall.

Back in 1990 they were not cheap either. Mountain Coin had a few, but they were providing machines directly to the casinos.

Last time I was in there, they got 20 cabs rescued from a garage in Parump. With all the casinos hurting, I'm sure there will be many more finds.

Probably in those rental lockup facilities littered all over the southern part of LV Blvd.

Nice. Those ebay prices are ridiculous, though.
