CarnEvil: First try and can't even reload

So I download this game to try and firstly setup everything to my liking (gun calibration aswell) and whilst the gun pump switch registers in the game test mode, I get about 6 shots before it tells me to reload which I am hammering the button and it won't let me reload and thus let the monster kill me.
Anyone confirm or know a solution?

IIRC, there is an option to use the pump action or shoot offscreen.
Not sure if it was a DIP switch or an option in the service menu. (sorry I don't have time to verify)
It's probably set to shoot offscreen to reload and you are pumping instead.

Just checked the game manual since I'm away from my PC, there's no option in the test menu or the DIP-Switches to change the reload, off-screen reload isn't even mentioned.

Ok, double checked the manual and it does mention off screen shooting to reload, however this OR pumping the shotgun is accepted for reloding. Pumping doesn't work and you can't shoot offscreen because the game never registers that even when you make the X go offscreen by misaiming during the calibration.
Can anyone else confirm this wierd problem for MT?

I don't have a good rig to play this but I followed the FAQ to first calibrate both guns before playing. I was able to use the pump/reload function anyway even if I could only play at 50% :P

Ok, turns out I'm using he carnevi1.chd instead of the carnevil.chd I thought I was using but still nothing...

Works perfectly fine on my PC.
I would delete your cfg, diff, and nvram file and start again.
Don't bother with getting your gun aiming to work properly.
Just test the default settings for ammo reload.
If you are still having problems, remap the reload button to some other key that you know works, like the letter "L" for example.
Start up the game. eventually it will force you to one of the chapters and you can test reload.

What king of gun are you using?
It could be an AIM-Trak setup issue and not a MAME issue.
(I'm using act labs guns btw)

A microsoft Intelli-Point mouse.
For some strange reason the initial setup screwed the button, works now, already beat tokkentaker.
