MAME and Solid State Drives

Although these are old articles, how much would something like the above benchmarking apply to MAME? For example, running games, ranging from Pac-Man to Die Hard [STV] to NFL Blitz?

IIRC, all ROM-based games will be a load time improvement only. Not sure on the CHD based games.

Since MAME runs everything from RAM, you won't see any difference, aside from maybe a tiny bit faster load time on the larger games.

None. Zero. You want an SSD as your C:\ drive with the OS and apps/games and conventional rotating storage for your D:\ with the ROMs and CHDs.

I doubt any. Would be nice to have a better way to stream CHD data though, so that CHDs could run over network drives without the wireless network bottleneck precluding their usefulness (currently CHDs stream audio horribly over even the fastest 802.11n).
