CHD Versions?

Does anyone know what versions of MAME supported which versions of CHD?
Or, is there a way to determine what version a chd is?

Open the command prompt, direct it to your MAME directory and then type:

chdman -info %chdpath\yourchdhere.chd%
Newer CHDs are version 4.

I think it went from V3 to V4 when 0.131 was released.

Even newer CHDs are version 5, which will probably start appearing once 0.145u1 is released in the next week or two.

Mainly it's slightly smaller, but chdman has it's parameters changed.
Aaron must have wanted to keep the pokerom's busy.
