An acquaintance said the last thing she did in every apartment she ever stayed at was give the kitty litter box a go in the dishwasher to get it nice and clean for the new place.

If you run the dishwasher empty with just soap on the hottest settings and a heat dry at the end once or twice after the cat box run, it would be OK. However, I know your brain would have you smelling phantom cat piss in every dishwashered glass for the rest of time.
