MAMEUI32 won't open! Please help!
#273996 - 01/25/12 05:12 AM

Every time I try to open MAMEUI32, it does appear on the Processes list (on the Task Manager window), but it does not actually appear on-screen! What do I need to do to fix this?

What version of MAMEUI are you running?
What is your CPU @ speed - OS?
Are you waiting long enough for it to start?
First run on MAMEUI w/the most recent released can take upwards of a minute wait on a slower machine.

I'm currently running the 0.144 version on Windows XP, SP3. My CPU is a 64-bit Athlon AMD processor. And, I did try waiting around a minute, but nothing happened.

There are many reasons MAMEUI isn't officially supported anymore and you have just found one of those reasons.

Download and run the official MAME binary from mamedev.org Then if needed, look into a frontend for it. QMC2, MAMEload, GameEX, etc.

I tend to use hyperspin more these days but do fire up mameui now and again what are the biggest problems with it?

Have you tried running MameUI with the IV-Play frontend available from the MameUI website? That's what I use to run it. Another thing you can try is deleting the MAMEUI32.ini file and letting it rebuild it.

Intel Core i7-10700
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 6GB

Just FYI while you can link IV/Play to any mameXX.exe that outputs listxml, if you use a baseline core build you can report bugs on mametesters more readily and they'll find that more palatable.

I just tried it on my 32-bit, 7-year old machine, running XP SP3, and it took 21 seconds to start.
