MAME - Windows Tablet - Not supported.

Since there is no way to raise feature requests for MAME I am posting this here. Hope that is OK.
Modern touchscreen devices do not emulate the mouse and operate as a tablet under windows. MAME currently does not recognise input from it either using DirecInput or RAW input. Under directinput movement is detected but not clicks/taps.
Just wanted to raise this and hopefully support can be considered to be added in the future.
Alternativly wondered what code changes would be required to work round it.
Thanks. Tom.
EDIT: PS: Talking about PCs not phones. ie Full Windows 7 x64 for PCs.

Thanks for the reply Italie. I am not sure that post is entirely relevant though as that is for a different type of device and platform. The thing that bugs me about tablet support in windows 7 is that there is no way to turn it off (at least that I have found). I have tried dual booting to XP on my hardware and under XP it does emlate the mouse. However its getting hard to find drivers for XP with new hardware. I nearly had everything working under XP by hacking inf files for video etc but could not get audio.
PS: Maybe R. Belmont could chime in and give some insight?
Cheers. Tom.

There may not be away to move the ROM's and stuff to MAME app or whatever it call after downloads those. Zips might not be supported by tablets anyway.
MAME will never make it to the Windows tablets.

Oh I see the confusion now. I am not talking about windows phones. I am talking about PCs. Ie the regular Windws 7 for PCs with a touchscreen display. I have an HP Touchsmart PC.

I don't know the details of how Windows 7 handles touchscreens, so I can't really answer authoritatively

He's not talking about a "touchscreen" as in the iPhone-style ones. It's a Wacom pen/touch display, so it appears as a digitiser device or something.
