things observed during compilation
#267344 - 10/27/11 04:52 PM

I've always wondered why when compiling MAME or MESS there are a couple of one-off's that appear.

Not being a programmer i'm curious why things like the TMS57002 source needs be generated after other TMS c files are compiled. Why doesn't this exist already? i can't imagine that there's something unique amongst everyone's build environment that this file can't be static from the get go.

The same thing with the 68K core, why is there a seperate comiler/"emulator" for this during compiling? Is it written in assembly and that's why the c compiler won't work?

Just curious.
