No, the show is not as fresh as it once was, but it’s still funnier than most of CBS’ alleged comedies.

What, like the CBS comedy Fox is now running twice every weekday?

"In previous years, when the cast asked for raises, 20th Century Fox threatened to hire sound-alike replacements. It’s unlikely after 23 years that diehard fans — some of whom were born after the show became a hit — would ever accept vocal doppelgangers."

Oh, Mexico 2005. The entire cast dubbing The Simpsons felt so indispensable they wanted to get paid even more. They were fired and replaced with sound alike actors. There were many complaints at first, a few of them remain, but now it's been so long that no one remembers how they sounded before.

We are so used to dubbing that the original (english) voices for us are not appealing (or funny).

I'm torn... on one hand, screw Fox. On the other hand, doing voices for the Simpsons has to be the cushiest gig in show business. Come in every day, sit in a comfy voice booth with a cup of tea and do your characters. It couldn't take more than, what, a few months to do the voices for a season? So they get $4 million instead of $8 million, boo hoo.

They really need to just let it go, though. 23 years is a good run by any standard. Let it end while there's still a shred of dignity left.

Well, yeah, but that's Mexico. Anyone can be fired for no reason and the bosses can get away with it. In Americaland... not so much.
