Argument Starter - a Graph of how Classic Games have held up

Have played a lot of the classics on MAME recently and realized while some have held up very well and still play great, some have not. I was surprised by playing some games that I loved in the arcades in the 80s that I am disappointed in today... And conversely. I have found many games I wasn't into then, that I love now.
My graph of it all is on my MAME blog here...

I guess some of that disappointment might be attributed to not having the cabinet, controls and atmosphere of an arcade.

Yeah, very true. The 90s were way cool as well

Yeah. The ultimate judge of a game these days is playing it at CAX, or one of the few good arcades still around (e.g. Ground Control).
That said, I look for different things in gaming now than I did when I was 8 years old. I didn't "get" Tempest then; I very much do now. So I think his post has merit.

Tempest is one of my favorite games, I own the PC version, a friend gave me which I don't know were it is, Jaguar version (with soundtrack) and the PSX version that some of my friends programmed and did level layouts for it. I just wish I could have bought Tempest arcade machine off my friend when he sold it, but I couldn't afford it at the time. Any arcade cabinet and real controls are better than anything you could ever play on a computer.
