MAME speedproblems
#264478 - 09/11/11 01:56 PM

Hi there

MAME is running on my arcademachine too fast, I have always to press F10/F11 to slow it down.

I also set THROTTLE to 1 but no success.

Any idea ?!

Could you buy a slower machine?

Post your MAME.ini file here. You probably have a setting messed up. Also, what version of MAME are you running?

I run MAME 142.

In this config Throttle is set to 0 but I tried it with 1 , also TrippleBuffer was activated but no change.

A slower system ????? I am happy that I found a system handling Hyperspin ...

Tnanks by the way !

Have you tried the GroovyMAME build?...

http://mame.groovy.org/

There's a discussion board over on BYOAC if you want to ask any questions...

The first thing that jumps at me is throttle is set to 0. It should be 1 including in any other ini files for drivers / games. Look in the ini folder and ini\source folder for more ini files.

Any reason you are using ddraw instead of d3d?

Also, why menu 1 ?

I guess because he's also using switchres 1 and running MAME in a arcade cab.

Tom:

What CPU and video card are you using? Are you using a real arcade monitor?

Er du fra Danmark?

Sorry for the late reply !!

I use a Arcade-Cabinett with Jamma.
The pc is a dualcore 2700 with 4 Gigs RAM but had the same problem with an other motherboard.
The graphicsadapter is a AVGA3000 , had the same problem also with AVGA9xxx Series.

Throttle is not set due it made no difference in the past.

Will look out for more inis .. maybe there is the problem. But I thought only mame.ini will be used.

Frontend is Mala and Hyperspin.

Cheers
Tom

As Red said throttle needs to be 1 and if you are running a Dual core CPU then multithreading needs to be set 1.

See the options and what they do here.
http://easyemu.mameworld.info/mameguide/mameguide-options.html

You might wanna consider running 0.143u5 and creating a fresh mame.ini by executing -createconfig

For some reason mame reads my mame.ini in the root of my mame directory and I didn't have to move it to ini directory.

Thanks, will try this !

I started MAME from the commandline and its still too fast. It must read any other *.ini file with that throttle set wrong.

Will try this days.

Jihaa ....

Its solved .. in the folder \ini\ were for nearly all games
ini-files with throttle=0 .... deleted all this files nd it works normally !

Thank you all for your advice !

Tom
