I (would) believe the consensus is for briefs - the method is 'pull-down'. It's a hassle working/contorting your tool through those overlapping layers (I know your fingers come in from the outside to bring it out -but it's still a hassle). As for pulling down; pulled down past the scrote or not? *not touching that one*
Boxers would have to be the fly method.
I suppose, in instances without pants -whichever is worn- an out the side through the leg hole is possible.

There needs to be conditional statements there. More often than not, the fly is unzipped and I piss by yanking the pole out through the fly in the boxers. If I feel there is even the slightest risk that I may have to shit, I'll sit down to avoid a shart. Many times, it's just a bunch of gas, but the one time failure is too much for me to risk. Also, if I'm out with a chick whom I hope to bang that night, I may end up using a stall and sitting down so I can easily push down the semi-boner and ensure the piss hits the toilet, or jerk one off so I can last longer with the hottie.
