Cruis'N Exotica unknown roms

I have another thread in the hardware section on this topic, but I have now found that U18 and U19 in my machine are not the same that are dumped in the MAME sets. The checksums are different.
Now the odd part is the manual states that dip5 is unused and just defaulted off, however on my machine it is in the ON position. When in the ON position the game passes the rom checks at boot with the unknown U18 and U19, if I switch it to OFF it fails them as bad red, the game boots and still seems to run fine.
Trying to one figure out how the dip switch could cause the change in post, two if these are valid roms, and three what does U18 and U19 control that might act wrong if they are bad.
Any thoughts?

What is the part number on the different chips? Are they the same chip type as the rest of the chips around them? Could be that the DIP allows you to use a larger ROM for those spots.
Looking at the MAME source U2-9 are sound related, 10-13 is the CPU code, 14-29 would be the graphics or model data.

I just found it is a dip switch that allows for 16meg rom split to be active.
Now what is odd is it uses the same size roms 27c160's as what is in the mame source dump, but these are a different checksum. Can anyone explain what I am seeing and or mis understanding.
thanks

Don't know. Replace the roms in mame with yours and see if anything changes, or run romcmp against them and see how different they are.
