3d mode not working in mame 142u4

i keep getting this message ( unable to create the direct3d device (88776086c).3d mode used to work before.also when i change the version to 8, it says unable to create 3d and bilinear filtering doesn't work anymore.is this due to the changes of the hlsl interface.this happens WITHOUT hlsl turned on. this is on a vista pc.the graphic card is the intel 45g series.

You have to get rid of that WALMART computer and upgrade. You should begin by buying a bunch of "For Dummies" books like PCs for Dummies, Windows 7 for Seniors for Dummies, and probably Do-It-Yourself Home Networking for Dummies.

Did you compile your own or are you using mameui?
What exactly did you change to 8? Are you referring to video option in mame.ini?
You might have to change d3d to ddraw or gdi
To fix your problem you might be better off compiling or downloading official mame64 or mame.exe and using John IV play new frontend.

Changing -d3dversion to 8 will not help. Two reasons...
(1) It hasn't worked in a long while:

(2) The shader stuff will not work on DirectX 8 as well, only DirectX 9.0c.
As I mentioned in your other thread, please wait until 0.142u5. There was a fix in place for Intel chipsets and other low-end graphic solutions.
