Mine needs a sprucing up, having a hard time with it now. I use to see 30 a week, it was really easy to see what works and what doesn't. Not so easy with trial and error...

Strip out all the dumb crap like "objective" and just stick to the critical stuff. Everything is about keyword hits these days, so make sure you include lots of keywords in your job descriptions and add a section at the end of your resume for even more keywords. Try to work in specific product names if you've worked with any specific software packages or technologies that employers might be searching for.
A general template...
Name Address * Phone * Email
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
employer name month year to month year - job title
job description
employer name month year to month year - job title
job description
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
year - degree/certification
year - degree/certification
COMPETENCIES
keyword, keyword, keyword, keyword, keyword, keyword, keyword, keyword, etc...

That is pretty much how I'm laid out now. I guess I just need to add the mandatory 15 pieces of flair then...
