Why would my USB2 4GB thumb drive suddenly revert to 1.1!?
#253950 - 05/08/11 12:42 AM

Age? XP f-ed up? It's a Lexar 4GB, one with the little LCD meter showing % available. Been very reliable, then suddenly BAM - XP's all in my face about it being a slow device. Bought a new 8GB and it works fast...

I've seen a stick drive become slower before because the actual connector got bent/misaligned where it connects to the board. Has it suffered trauma?

If more people here thought like that we would be number one instead of a pitiful 8th place. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be British.

Ideally, everything would be organic, living, and it would self-repair. At the very least, there should be a chute you throw it into, and it goes to the decomposition plant, etc...

I don't even bother recycling anymore, partly because there's no service for apartments here, and I throw out a grocery bag full of stuff about twice a month. What little food doesn't make it into my tummy goes down the disposal.
