Bezels for beginners.

I'm fairly new to mame and im running mameui 64 bit v.139 and I'm having some issues with bezels. I downloaded a bunch of bezels from a website that are not really true bezels but rather just fill in the black borders when a game is vertically oriented. The website said all you need to do is drop the .zips in the artwork folder and thats all, but I dont have any bezels coming up. In mameui, show bezels is checked on and I dont know the settings well enough to start tinkering. Could anyone offer some helpful input. Thanks for your time.

While in game, hit the TAB button > Video Options and choose the correct setting.

If it's the website I'm thinking of, that might be old style artwork. MAME changed the artwork format starting with 0.107.
Open up one of the artwork zip files. If it has a PNG file and an ART file, it's for pre-107 MAME, and won't work with 0.139; if it has a PNG and a LAY file, then it's for current MAME, and we need totrobleshoot.

Yea I think it is png files I believe the person who did them is named stu? However as a test I'll download a couple from your website and try it when I get home.

Ok the bezels I had were the old formats so I downloaded some of the mr do ones and they are great but for some reason they make vector games unplayably slow. I know with later versions of mame you need to run vector in directdraw, which I'm doing, but they chug until I disable the bezels. Is this normal?
