Can't skip mame nag screen with Joystick

Hi,

I'm new to mame and have got everything setup how i'd like except this one niggle...

Basically my joystick works fines once a game is running. However, in order to get past the nag screen i have to press left then right on my keyboard. If i use the joystick it simply does not register that left then right has been pressed.

I've searched around for a solution, but cant find anything helpful on this.

Any ideas?

Check your UI controls setting in the tab menu-- those are separate from the game controls and can be defined to the same controls or different ones.
