I love all the models making goofy faces in the "Telekick" flyer. Very German.

I believe that will be the winner on "TAFA additions of 2011" for "most awful" flyer design for advertising.

Going back to 1973 or 1974, at a time when video games were still not really known compared to pinball by casual folks in general, I can see the director of the photo shoot telling the models on the set there:

"Okay. We're doing a shoot for some contraption called a video game....pong cab or something like that. It something that appears on a television screen...I don't know......so just pretend you are Pele kicking the futbol for New York Cosmos [old 1970s era NASL]...okay ladies."

Another very good update. It looks like one or two are scans are from a magazine? The Empire Strikes Back entry looks like it came from a magazine rather than a flyer imo.

The Merit and Cal Omega flyer additions are very helpful. Merit Player's Choice flyer provides some proof that Merit Four Play is nothing more than the marketing name of the cabaret and upright models that actually run Player's Choice. I guess Merit was trying to use a creative marketing name for some cab models when distancing themselves from competitor Greyhound/Grayhound back in the 1980s.

Thanks for the feedback. If anyone has a release date for these that would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, that flyer had its moment back in either 2002 or 2003 when one of the regulars finally remembered their favorite game was Super Tank and linked to that flyer for some laughs. It's still a classic though. The flyer for Streaking is pretty funny too.

Tele-Ball
Tele-Kick

I am not sure if it will ever be determined exactly, but I'd start with either 1973 or 1974 and hope any related paperwork or pcb of either game can still be found sometime later. The fact you found any flyers for these two games is a good start itself.

This German website implies 1974 for Telekick.

but it's never formally stated.

A good site there. In fact, it appears there are other German region flyers that Dan/TAFA doesn't have yet. Seeing Tele-Kick flyer on that site shows the same models doing a different pose...which leads me to guess that there was a multi-page printed Tele-Kick flyer that has yet to be added on TAFA.

Some of the 2/4 player doubles pongs were already on the scene by late summer 1973. That's why I would say the guess could be either 1973 or 1974 until actual paperwork or a pcb can be found.

Aha......Heh. I see a Wild Gunman cab in there.

I don't know if the color photo advertisement is from an actual flyer or from a trade journal/magazine. If it is actually from a German region flyer, that flyer is on my personal WG want list.
