Agreed...I can't believe they're not using Brandon Routh (fellow Iowan). I thought he was an excellent choice in "Superman Returns".
As for WW...warning lights are a flashin...but I wouldn't know how NOT to make the costume cheezy...hmmm

A lot of people felt Returns was a letdown. I don't think the new one will be a sequel to it, it will be some "reboot" I'm guessing.

The only way to do that is to lose the costume entirely. Pretty sure that's why Smallville hasn't done more than give Clark Kent a red jacket up until the point where they're wrapping up the series.
How do you make "a serious, non-campy take" on an American Greek princess from an island in Turkey or possibly Libya or India (where are "Amazon warriors" from?) with a list of abilities like:
superhuman strength flight super-speed super-stamina super-agility extreme hand-to-hand combat and tactical warfare proficiency animal-like cunning natural rapport with animals ability to communicate with the animal kingdom Lasso of Truth indestructible bracelets boomerang tiara invisible jet
Hopefully they'll lose a chunk of those. The speed and agility are required for the bracelets to be effective. I DO see stars running down the side of those pants, and she's got a glittery string and plastic tiara, making her look like she's on her way to whatever the next cosplay convention is.

I actually liked Returns. Except for Kevin Spacey. He's no Gene Hackman.

Arguably - and lots of people argued about it - DC's Luthor was far more sinister, and meaner. But the whole storey of SR was just lame. And the sinister parts were so overdone, they were as bad as Superman IV.
But, again, most of these movies and all ARE NOT made for adults. They're made for children....often teenagers who are really children. "Survey says!....."

Yes, but the river is named after warriors from Greek mythology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazons
