Hi
Dunno how much this could be done, but here's my idea for generic artworks :
Part left : flyer (if found) adjusted left full height (take parent flyer.png if clone.png can't be found, bios flyer.png if both can't be found) Part right : flyer (if found) adjusted right full height (same, parent or bios if not found)
Over display: A small inner glow black (55%), normal blend mode with a small choke (7%) (rather than a inner shadow which would be decayed, more on left than right), (which could be turned on/off) but better with, imho
Here's the result with a super gem fighter minimix exemple (forced 4:3), with a real scanline effect at 70% (one line 70% black, the other left white) For that size, inner glow was 24px. Tell me what you think about it...?
Personnaly I would love that

Well I thought that would be a rather good idea for ppl who hates the "black borders" as I do, rather than a generic MAME bezel for all... Each game that would need a bezel, that bezel could have been generated auto from the real flyer...
But from the answers my post got.. perhaps it was not ^^ Regards, MAMu_

Now, now... no need to get down.
It is a pretty interesting idea. Probably not for baseline MAME, however...
I know GameEX (the frontend) has an ability to create generic artwork for MAME games. I'm just not sure if it would have the ability to to that with multiple files for multiple games. Might want to try on there forums. Maybe Tom could figure out a way to do it.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.
