Nah, that's on Fox, and you can't trust ANYTHING they say. Of course there'll be an earthquake in California, but I think I'm done here for the night, so I can't respond seriously.

I mean I can "predict" that there will be a hurricane bigger than Katrina to hit the U.S. Hell I can even "predict" that it'll happen in 6 months...doesn't mean I'm right.
But once it happens I can be Nostradamus and say I told you so.
It's just fear mongering to keep you scared and glued to the TV

It isn't entirely a guess - there is some science behind it. They are known to occur at regular intervals, and from what I hear, a big one is overdue now.
My website is hosted by Dreamhost in Brea, CA. Can I take any special measures to ensure minimal disruption in case of a shaker? (I use unlinked pages on my site for weekly course material at work) Google Maps tells me they wouldn't be far from potential trouble spots.

I've got to say though that there is stark contrast between the way American/Western Civ news is covering it than say Al Jazeera. Really. I'm getting more straight-to-the-point news on the situation through Al Jazeera and on the American news outlets all I'm getting is a bunch of "journalists" who think they're experts on the topic giving their opinions before switching to Twitter to see what the average high school aged kid has to say about it before peppering in something-or-other about Libya and Charlie Sheen before signing off to commercial squeezing in a jab at Lindsay Lohan.
FUCK
The U.S. media swept the oil disaster under the rug pretty quickly but it doesn't compare to how they're handling the situation in Japan.
It's an easy prediction. It's called the ring of fire for a reason. I remember my first earthquake living in Portland. I wasn't expecting any such thing, I thought it was my neighbors making noise until the next day, even yelled at them to keep it down. I had work to do the next day!
Seriously though people please give a few bucks to help Japan. I'm going to be helping soon through eBay sales so make like me and rule.
