Is there any way to track down where a .tmp file is coming from?

Like... what other process is creating it... I always have something like DWH67F9.tmp being snagged by my AV as Trojan.Gen.2
says log only but the file is never there when I go to look.

If it is happening pretty quickly sysinternals has utility that is called procmon. You can watch any file creation or file manipulation in it. You just need to set the filters correctly. It says which process is doing the manipulation too.
