emu CMD line questions

MAME32/UI, for example, does not first show the gui when a game is run via command line*. What makes this possible?
* In addition, via command line parametres or a shortcut of the exe, you can minimize the confirmation box - or 'dos' box of baseline MAME.

I'm not just making lame excuses to make unfunny posts, I swear - I swear I just read that like you were trying to control emus, not emulators but emus ie 's from a CLI Surreal!

Yeah, I used to have that issue, and still have a flavor of it in mind when I see the word. For that matter, I still have this image of something on four legs when I think of that creature. B'gosh.
