the beat somehow reminded me of Roland TR-808 (especially, from 0:08 to 0:10).
more on this:
abelenki: YountMJ-Work: am i dreaming, or i really heard some 808 on this tune? YountMJ-Work: Probably... sampled, perhaps. YountMJ-Work: I was basically thinking that whatever was being played was being processed by the SPU, but I suppose that it could be using 808 samples by the sequencer, which would be pretty cool. YountMJ-Work: That was one of my favorite sound processors. Beautiful sound out of that thing.

Yeah, this is what I call an improvement...

Very noticable, the old MAME core made it sound something from a Mega Drive minus the better drum samples. Very nice of the pSX authors!

How does it compare to the Highly Experimental winamp plugin?

HE, pSX, and the PEOpS SPU plugin are all equally state-of-the-art ("the art" was perfected around 2003 for SPU emulation).

Assuming those problems are with sound effects (not the music, which is a different chip), absolutely.

Whoa, kinda tranced there for a second. Very trippy - great tune!

Thanks I'd have preferred a more c64 style sound.

the last I heard, gnet has an unemulated sound chip.

At least "Zooo" will sound good as it does not use the Zoom soundchip

Great work on the audio chip.
I could never make it to the top of the Chrysler Building in that game.

Same answer. This will fix the reported errors/glitches in the sound effects in those games (the explosions in RayCrisis were missing reverb, for instance). It will not add the music.

Anyway, congratulations for the job, thank you for the time spent. Add these effects greatly improves the sound quality, myself being a big fan of the Parasite Eve theme.

Dang, I thought this was going to be an update to the Seibu SPI driver to make Viper Phase sound right.
Very cool progress none the less.

Nice to see the PSX driver getting some love, for such a big arcade system, it seems to have been neglected over the past years
