"What is MAME?"
#244739 - 01/27/11 08:33 AM

Not critical I suppose, though worth mentioning: some of the data is inaccurate.

http://www.mameworld.info/net/welcome.html

"MAME is software, written in 'C' and 'ASM'..."

"MAME is co-ordinated By Nicola Salmoria of Italy..."

"You are not allowed to distribute MAME and ROM images on the same physical medium. You are allowed to make them available for download on the same web site, but only if you warn users about the copyright status of the ROMs and the legal issues involved."

Page needs some updating....such as when it still has description "supports over 6000" rom sets. :-)

If that is a text file that comes with the official binary release, I guess that's where to first begin updating.

KC made that page years ago, and yeah, it really needs a good updating.

That's exactly why we like you. Lazy AND efficient. It really is a rare combo.

Not only that, but I updated the Wiki page.

Good luck with that. I tried to clarify the situation with MAME on Linux a while back (the sentence about XMAME needs to be deleted, because it's not coming back) and it got reverted.

It's been a few days already. So far so good. I didn't only delete content. In fact, I re-wrote three different parts. Added a couple links.
