cocktail display question

Is it possible to *easily* make both images in cocktail mode display right side up? Further, is it *easy* to enable this for all games that offer cocktail mode?

This kind of request was big a few years ago when XBOX/MAME emulation was of interest to a lot of people. It's nothing you'll get help from a Dev on, I'm afraid.

open src/emu/layout/vertical.lay in a text editor. Make sure the cocktail section reads
The important part is "orientation rotate".
Recompile.
Edit: pre and code tags seem to be disabled here. Look for
orientation rotate="180"
in the cocktail section and change it to
orientation rotate="0"
Recompile.

Thank you so much. I knew it would be that easy. And using Headkaze's compiler, the hardest part about it was waiting the hour plus it took to compile. Which is not long, I don't think.

Takes 6-7 minutes on a Core 2 Quad 9400.

Why is that interesting for Xbox?

MAMEOX was made with illegal development tools, etc - which lead to it being despised. The case came down, if I remember correctly, that an issue with the CHORE people were having with 'swapping' a single controller between two players. Then people got an idea that they could get 2 players, each with individual controls if they run the games in cocktail mode. Then the requests came in quite often for changes in source to allow the second player's screen to be rotated 180 degrees, essentially making it an upright game, but with two separate controllers.
I would have simply mapped both controllers as player 1's and avoided the hassle - provided the other player doesn't keep screwing with your game

I don't get how that's an advantage though. Both players are looking at the same TV, right? Perhaps mogli can explain since he started this thread on being able to do that.
