We got the original Space Bomber. Most of the boards were converted to Version B so this one is pretty rare.

Another entry that can eventually be removed.
--- Only Version A is a Most Wanted ROM. ---
btw: the video source code file itself has a sizeable, remaining to-do list. Maybe the pcb might be able to clear up some remaining items still unknown with this hardware.

WOW! nice!!!

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms

Nah. I have a pcb myself - just not the will. Nothing's really interesting enough to tackle at this point. I'd say the video emulation is up there with the most accurate of the complex 2D hw. With the exception of the zooming (both bg and sprites, which isn't pixel perfect, but then show me a driver where it is), and the weird sprite-sprite priority thing noted it's basically there.

Wow, that's a really nice find. Any idea what the difference is between this and Version B game-wise?

How about X-/Y-Boards?

Observed cosmetic differences so far:
* Intro: picture of man ("No, go to star") is flipped horizontally versus ver.b * "game over" image has different palette * Intro: spinning "Space Bomber" at bottom right is silver instead of red. * Lives counter are static images and not animated (ver.b presumably reuses a zoomed player sprite with move left/right animation frames) * It's missing the intro between worlds and on all clear ("You stinking aliens betrayed us!", clearly developed by rehashing images from the intro in ver.b to add an element of story) * It's missing the 'rankings' on all clear ("CAT-2" etc.)
Gameplay (based on a random level sampling):
* The third wave of bullets from boss 2-4 are bigger than in ver.b. Large circles instead of the classic-Psikyo ovals * Bullets from flying saucers on 1-4 are bigger than ver.b also * More cases like this
I'm sure the rest is bug-fixes and gameplay tweaks. Unlike Lode Runner - The Dig Fight it's not a complete overhaul though.

Well for what it's worth, I've got the will to compile as many emulation/hardware pixel comparisons as is useful. If you ever feel the need for more test cases just let me know.
