Awesome! So how did he pull it off?

Looks like trojans being run on the real board. If you want a more techy answer, wait for Kale or Dox to reply.

Actually Alex Jackson sent in some fixes to the NEX V25 CPU core which this board uses. AFAIK it's mostly his fix that enabled the music for Batsugun.
Great fix and awesome update for lovers of Batsugun :-)

I know it wasn't Dox's update for Batsugun, I guess I should have used a + instead of &.

Yeah, Dox's update has absolutely nothing to do with Batsugun. What Dox is working on is the COP chip used by various Seibu games.

Aye, it's a bit confusing.
Be a man and post a link to the blog entry. Embedded video made/uploaded/played by the banned person VS link to blog entry by the banned person with interesting info and no anti-MW text whatsoever, what's the (moral) difference?

It's a YouTube video, get a hold of yourself. If you have a problem with twisty's rules then go take it up with him. I'm not the one who banned Tom Riddle, in fact I talk to him about every day.
Edit: And for the record, he deserved to be banned when he was, but I don't know about a lifetime ban. That's a little much I think, but twisty is much more "no nonsense" than I am so whatever I guess.

I got banned once for breaking that silly rule, so I won't try it again. :P
You're much higher in the forum 'hierarchy'... or will all hell break loose if you publicly disobey that rule?

twisty probably doesn't really give a rat's ass, dunno. I don't really care to try. Maybe he'll get another chance one day, maybe not.

I'm not talking about unbanning him. If I was him, I really wouldn't care about that anymore.
But forum users not allowed to post news updates or links about his MAME contributions is plain ridiculous, and unfair to both parties and site visitors not getting all the news.

Some of the things he has posted on his site before about MW are arguably just as ridiculous.

Probably. Though direct links to blog entries containing technical MAME updates information and no MW rants should be allowed IMO.

Well, that's again arguable if you consider some of them are about things purposefully not mentioned in whatsnews.

meh... Anyway, hope you're not feeling too aggravated for me bringing this up to you instead of the guy that came up with the rule. =)
I have a feeling he'd ban my ass again if I state my opinion about it directly to him. :P

It is utterly pointless to even persist in discussing this.
Furthermore, you are way, way off-topic posting this here to begin with. Site policy disputes do not belong in News Sub. Take it to the Bin if you insist on wasting keystrokes.

I don't really care what your opinion is. Really.

V-Five / Grindstormer, Fix Eight, Knuckle Bash, and Dogyuun will also benefit from this once their sound code has been fully decrypted. This is just a matter of time and a bit of effort in figuring out the programs.
...I can't wait to hear V-Five/GS how original automat sounds... ...especially after hearing that awful-annoying sfx in Sega MD version !

The most important thing figured out by that is how the RNG really works, also it figures out what a register does (the 0x10042c was more or less a pointless value until now). Needless to say, less things to check, less headaches on trying to fix the remaining issues.

Mod quote!

Do not p-mail me for help compiling my updates, ask on the board.
Do not request sound for your favorite game. I work on whatever, when I get around to it.
If you have schematics for discrete sound games not easily found on the net, I would be interested.

'parrently - Batsugun hooks straight up with the V25 core updates because the sound code is not encrypted, there's some other games who's sound may be along soon if someone works on decryption and still more that will need some decapping yet - there's that's what the man said!
