added: import/export of upcoming MAME flag "ismechanical" setinformation's 'Select Sets' supports variable %M=1 to mark mechanicals Split system default path "Standard" into "Standard" and "Mechanical", ie you can split mechanical sets in an own path. Note, if a mechanical set is also using a bios the belonging bios path is used since that binding got a higher priority
added: scanner advance option to keep disabled sets as unneeded (instead of ignoring them) misc: changed a bit the show missing behaviour of sets which only consist of nodumps and samples misc: correct handling of not possible profile renaming of hyperspin/offline/software list dats misc: for now, stop parsing dats if 1st closed main element is found misc: supporting chds in mess software lists

What's the upcoming mechanical stuff all about? I must have missed something somewhere.
Can anyone elaborate on this?

Pinball machines without the actual table/ball, maybe other mechanical stuff later but probably never simulating ball physics etc.

I'll make it short and easy to understand: "Mechanical" relates to Pinball, Redemption, Shuffle and everything in between. Anything that requires an interaction that is not possible from an cpu emulation perspective (physics, physical interaction). Basically, it's a beginning of documentation of a more varied array of what qualifies as an "arcade" game. The days of "video" only games being all alone as documented in MAME are gone.

Hi, i have a problem with clrmame. I have directories for original and clone roms and i want to scan them separately. Can you add filters for Originals and Clones to the 'Scanner' like in the snapshot montage.

First of all...such posts belong to the cmpro board...
wow..what a weird storing method ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
Scan them separately in terms of having them just physically stored in 2 paths and you still want 1 scan to check them all? Then this is currently not doable without some indeep knowledge and modifying the datfile and either adding rebuildto flags or using set subfolders. Not worth the trouble if you ask me.
Another option would be (but that would require not-merged sets) to keep 2 profiles for the same mame data. In one you go to set information and setup a filter "Select Sets: %c=?*" to only enable clones and in the other one you setup the same filter plus the "logical not" to only enable parents.
A fully freely assignement of rompaths to filters is on my to do list but don't expect such a thing soon. For now you can assign systems (bios relations) and mechanical/non-mechanical....

You don't need an external dat, cmpro can directly access the MAME binary for this
.....or if you really want a plain xml file redirect a mame -listxml call to a file.

Thanks. One more question

How can I just scan the roms I have and see missing/dupe files?

Scanner -> hit the "New Scan" button
well...if you're a newbie you should follow a tutorial which are all over the internet.....

I did so a few years back

and it messed up all my sets. Luckily I had a backup, but haven't tried it since.

It can't mess up sets unless you scan your new collection with an old dat..and even then everything is moved to backup...

I just read the tutorial,

but I cant find out if it's possible to scan only the roms I have and not all the sets that exist.

just scan all the roms, then when you read the final report, you focus you attention on incomplete sets (that you have or are incomplete), ignoring the fully missing ones (the ones you don't have)

or in other words, simply scan for all and hide all completely missing sets. For that you can use the popupmenu option "View->Hide Fully Missing Sets".
You can of course use the "avail sets" button to limit to your sets...but as the link says it's not recommended...

There's even an option to automatically hide them....
but anyway..this discussion belongs to the cmpro forum....

Nooooooo...!
Don't do that, it's a complete nightmare if you're not going for a full set of ROMs.
This will make clrmame build tons of non-working, half-built sets that you don't want, pieced together from whatever files you have. And then you have to delete all that shit by hand.
If you're not going for a full set, you should always scan only the ROMs that you have.

nonsense simply keep fix missing disabled or you can use the delete->all incomplete sets option... either way it is one click.

But if I keep fix missing disabled how can I fix missing but fixable as some roms show?

That was just my reply to Sune..... If you don't disable sets then fix-missing will most likely find roms inside your small collection which are also used for other sets (since it's pretty common that e.g. eeproms are shared through dozens of sets) which are not part of your collection. So it's up to you what you prefer: if you don't disable sets, you can remove incomplete sets later on or if you disable sets you yourself have to care about which sets you enable and which not...
