Something I'm surprised I didn't know, worth passing along. You CANNOT use regular aluminum flashing on pressure treated woods. I guess the copper content of the treated wood corrodes aluminum.
And now you know.

As an aviation structural mechanic, I'm all too familiar with dissimilar metal corrosion... but I had no idea any kind of wood had copper content

Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!

Yeah, pressure treated wood has cuproarsenate compounds in there which prevent it from rotting or becoming infested with critters. It's also why you should NEVER burn pressure treated wood. Not too healthy.

Yeah, neither did I. I guess the copper has always been there, but Arsenic was the main "treatment" until people started getting sick from it or something. Now there is less of that and more of the copper.

Basically 3 types of compounds:
chromated copper arsenic (CCA), Ammoniacal copper zinc arsenate (ACZA), Ammonium copper quat (ACQ).
Strange is that i think here it's more often a sodium silicate compound than anything with copper that's used for treatment. Also simply heat threaded wood is available.
