Vectoring Text

What methods do you guys use to get the text on instruction cards and the like? Do you manually create each letter in the font and copy/paste it? Do you find an existing font that's a near match? Is it a particular software package that does a decent job of it? Etc.?

9 times out of 10, we'll match the font up to an existing font.

Whatthefont.com will try and identify the font by having you upload a sample, then use character recognition.

Identifont.com will ask you questions about the characteristics of certain characters, then use that info to give you a matching font.

From there, it's just a matter of finding that font and typing in the text.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

Very helpful to know. Egads! I was doing it quite the hard way. As fate would have it, Corel has a link to WhatTheFont built in. I tried it with Sega Champion Boxing, and it didn't match anything up very well even after filtering and cleaning. Will keep messing with it.

hwat the font have a forum, of fellow members that can help when the automatic recognition fails.

an other way is to find the closest looking font, you can find. type the text, then convert the text to vector outlines (there is an option for that on illustrator, I guess corel should hold the same kind of tool) then tweak manualy the letters that need to be modified. ie long and painfull task ...
