DU Update: Gekirindan & Friends -Edited 4X
#241459 - 12/17/10 09:23 PM

We got the Asia version of Gekirindan.

I dumped an old Merit board, it looks like an alt version of Trivia Whiz 4, not sure yet...

Edit #1: It's Deluxe Trivia ? Whiz Edition 5. Mariusz Wojcieszek got it running.

Kevin Eshbach dumped the proms from Super Missile Attack.

Darran dumped a bunch of early 80's bootlegs from New Zealand, mostly Galaxian and Galaga bootlegs and hacks. Read Only and Yohji are working on getting a gadget built that makes perfect Nintendo FDS dumps.

I talked to Dr. Decapitator today and he's working hard on some 68705s for us.

Edit #2: I got an undumped Raiden II. It's similar to the raiden2e set but with a Fabtek license.

Edit #3: Thanks to hap and N. Francfort for DU donations.

Edit #4: The doc says thanks to the joshfather, R. Howard and R. Teixeira for recent donations.

The Taito cratridge images look a little less detailed. I'm assuming someone else has them?

And aren't Nintendo FDS disk's just slightly modified Quick Disks? As I remember reading, a small modification will allow you to use Quick Disks on an FDS

Yeah Corrado has the Gekirindan. I'm not an expert on the FDS situation.

I was judging on this line:

Quote:

The Quick Disk's most successful use was in Nintendo's Famicom Disk System. The FDS package of Mitsumi's Quick Disk used a 3-inch×4-inch plastic housing called the "Disk System Card". Most FDS disks did not have cover protection to prevent media contamination, but a later special series of five games did include a protective shutter.

Nice. That's the first find of the Deluxe series. I wonder how many variations are still out there yet to be found.

I think it's just the sequel to Trivia Whiz Edition 4, they just threw in the "Deluxe" and an encryption. There probably are a few undumped question rom strips for it.

That's a pretty random question mark in the title there, do you think they were trying to start a new shorthand abbreviation where a '?' is pronounced 'Question' as in 'Deluxe Trivia Question Whiz'?
Didn't catch on, did it?

If you want Raiden 2 decrypted you could always donate to Dr Decapitator in the hope that the good Dr can decap the Raiden 2 chips that were obtained for decapping purposes.

Obviously there is no guarantee that these chips can be successfully decapped or that there is anything in there that can help with the decryption.

edcosta was asking about donating toward these chips. Maybe now would be a good time?
