Export Chrome History and import into Firefox History
#238186 - 11/06/10 06:51 AM

If anyone's looking for something fun to work on, a utility to export Google Chrome history and import into Firefox history would be great. Other than knowing that each program uses a SQLite database with different schema to maintain the browser history information, I don't have any more information.

You would think this would be easy, you would think someone would have written a utility already. But nooooo.... so opportunity awaits for the enterprising programmer. (Krick? )

I'm not even sure a utility is necessary... a series of scripts?

why would you want to import history? I could understand the bookmarks, but cross-importing history does not seem so useful to me...

On modern browsers that auto-complete based on your history, it's useful to have it shared.

Not to mention the last time I updated my bookmarks folder is 1999 sometime...

It's about workflow and process to me, I enter URLs primarily from memory, and browser history when not. I'd hate to lose four months of info. I think I might be okay on the SQL side of things but not so good on the Python...
