Even live in Japan, I has seen 'real' game just one time. Therefore I wonder and very interested.
Arcadia (Arcade game magazine) reported as new game and supported after released (All maps, marking points, events were put)

SEGA have made some great games in their life-time... I'm just wondering who's insane idea it was to make this. I mean, a dog-walking simulator?

It doesn't come across as a quarter sucker for each player to me but it's so weird and unique that I can imagine it being really successful if set up in the correct spots because many people would play it once just for bragging rights.

Yeah, I'd think the same too... Though, you'd get pretty bored if you played too long I suppose

Kind of reminds me of how Maxis sells a people simulator game.

You talkin' about Sims? If so, then it's not a ludecrous idea, I mean Second Life is like ti and yet it's a very good game.

If not, then what game?

But either way, kudos for the original idea, but maybe not th best arcade game thought of XP

Yes, I'm talking about The Sims. Why do I need a life simulator when I can already get that in the real world.

You're male. A majority of Sims players aren't. You wouldn't understand

Sweet! A great day in emulation - the dog-walking game.

Yes, I know woman love it. It's just another item I added to the men are from Mars and women are from Venus list.

Oh....if only Gary Larson was still creating Far Side strips.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...AAACqBAVP0GA1OQ

I have a hunch he would create a grim caption where a female computer user/player logs online to play the game and notices her simulated character gets "killed off" by a rival.

The text would read something like: "....new feature from the Sims....ability for enemies and archrivals to do in sim life characters."

It would just be a grim joke on Gary's part since he does occasionally throw in grim caption episodes once-in-a-while. I can see him doing that imo.

Yes, because clearly real life is full of furry sex and flying penises.

Incidentally, Bob Flanagan (of Marble Madness fame), is lead engineer / sr. technical director of some "The Sims" titles.

Two reasons:

First, it's a game like any other. You have rules, a goal, obstacles, and a reward (however paltry). As the Japanese have clearly proven, you can wrap literally any skin around that framework and make it work.

The second reason people play games based on mundane activities is so they can behave in ways that would get you thrown in prison or committed to an insane asylum in the real world. I suspect every last male who has played The Sims has behaved like a little boy with a magnifying glass and an anthill on a sunny day, at some point or another.
